You & Me
Want to pack your bags
Something small
Take what you need and we'll disappear
Without a trace
We'll be gone gone
Moon and the stars will follow the car
Then when we get to the ocean
Gonna take a boat to the end of the world
All the way to the end of the world
Oh and when the kids are old enough
We're gonna teach them
To fly
You and me together
We can do anything, baby
You and me together
Yes, yes
The two of us together
We can do anything, baby
You and me together
Yes, yes
You and I, we're not tied to the ground
Not falling but rising
Like rolling around eyes
Closed above the rooftops
Eyes closed, we're gonna spin through the stars
Our arms are wide as the sky
We're gonna ride the blue
All the way to the end of the world
All the way to the end of the world
Oh and when the kids are old enough
We're gonna teach them
To fly
We can do anything, baby
You and me together
Yes, yes
The two of us together
We can do anything, baby
You and me together
Yes, yes
We can always look back at what we did
Always the memory of you and me, baby
But right now it's you and me forever, girl
You know we can do better than anything that we did
You know that you and me, we can do anything
You and me together
We can do anything, baby
You and me together
Yes, yes
The two of us together....

Speaking of babies...
from Ohdeedoh:
The Best and Worst Places To Be A Mother
We were not surprised to read that the United States wasn't near the top of the latest 'Mothers Index' of best countries in which to be a mom - but we didn't expect it would rate so low. This is the eleventh annual index put out by Save the Children to measure women's and children's health and well-being around the world. Have a guess which mothers have it best?
As if their silken, blonde locks and ski slopes weren't enviable enough, Norway tops the index of 160 countries followed closely by Australia, Iceland and Sweden. The United States was ranked at number 28 right behind Croatia. What puts our ranking so low within the tier of more developed countries: maternal mortality rate (one of the highest in the developed world, 10 times higher than Ireland); under-five mortality (a child in the U.S. is twice as likely to die before their fifth birthday than a child in Singapore); limited access to preschool (only 61% enrollment); and stingy maternity leave policies.
You can read more about the report at Save the Children.

Babies
Last night the St. Anthony Health Foundation in conjunction with the Denver Film Society’s Women+Film program hosted a Citywide Baby Shower at the Starz FilmCenter to benefit Bloom, a comprehensive prenatal care program for teens created by the Certified Nurse-Midwives at St. Anthony Central Hospital. With a donation, we were treated to a reception and an early screening of the film, Babies.
Babies simultaneously follows the lives of 4 babies from around the world: Mongolia, Japan, Namibia, and San Francisco. It was interesting how different and yet similar their lives are. One baby lives in a yurt on the plains of Mongolia and another in a hut in Africa, but they both share the same look of pure joy when they stand on their own for the first time.
If you find babies adorable and entertaining, then watch this movie (it opens this weekend). If you don't really enjoy them, then you should probably skip it. Have to say though...these babies were pretty funny.

Change
from nadi amy:
that about sums it up!
in mandarin, the characters for the word 'change' are a combination of opportunity and danger.
I heart Monday presents
Last night, Danny surprised me with this fetching little bauble from Freshy Fig....a vintage ball and chain locket (Get it?? Ball and chain. HA!). I've been wanting a locket for a while, and this one is simply perfect. Now, I just have to find some teeny tiny pictures to hide inside.

Weekend Recap: Visitors from the East
We had some lovely guests over the weekend...Danny's sister, Mel, and her husband, Arthur! We were worried about the weather going in as they were predicting rain, but the universe listened to my request and actually gave us really nice weather overall.
Friday started with a trip to the Denver Biscuit Co. I had a terrible time deciding what to get...really wanted to try the Strawberry Shortcake, but ended up going with the Schooner. Delicious! A warning: breakfast here might require a nap following your meal.
That night we went to see In the Heights. Loved it! The energy in this musical is phenomenal. The music is great. It's just so much fun. Highly, highly recommend it! Mel gave me the original cast recording, and I plan on listening to it all afternoon. Here's a taste...
Saturday was full of cocktails, yummy food, great friends, a punching bag machine, and late night pizza. A really good day and a great night.
We had so much fun with Mel and Arthur and really wish they lived closer to us. Come back soon!
